This month, we are starting a new unit under the Transdisciplinary Theme of Sharing the Planet. We are focusing on how humans share water.
Central Idea: Water is a natural resource that can cause and resolve conflict.
Lines of Inquiry:
- Where our water comes from
- The distribution and availability of usable water
- Our responsibility for water conservation
The novel we will read is Linda Sue Park's A Long Walk to Water. This beautiful story follows two different children in two different time periods in Sudan; both children are affected by conflict and by availability of usable water.
For Math, we are finishing our decimal unit this week. Students are able to add, subtract, and decompose fractions and decimals up through the hundredths place. Next, we will move on lines and rays. We are also incorporating a spiral review as we prepare for the NWEA, which will be given the week of June 3.
Please remember to collect and start turning in donations for Move-a-Thon. This can be done online by visiting here.
